Kumon

Teaching Assistant, Kumon, 2012

I helped guide young children to learn how to read and write as well as solve math problems.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Co-op Student, Clinical Pathology Laboratory, 2013

Under the supervision of Dr. P.C. Chan, I supported lab pathologists in their day to day tasks, and worked on data analysis for a project on Bisalbuminemia. The project was later published in Journal of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. I also put together a few e-learning modules for nurses.

Physiology Department

Research Student, Neuroscience Lab, University of Toronto, 2014

I researched the impact of various drugs on neural growth in mice with stroke.

Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering Institute (IBBME)

Research Student, Quantitative Morphogenesis Lab, University of Toronto, 2015

I was part of Quantitative Morphogenesis Lab, IBBME, UofT from Fall 2014 to Summer 2015. I analyzed mathematical models of Drosophila Melanogaster’s embryonic development with graduate students under the supervision of Dr. Rodrigo Fernandez-Gonzalez. Funded by NSERC Undergraduate Summer Research Award, I developed and designed a graphical user interface for SIESTA, an image analysis platform used for analysis of time-lapse microscopy data in biological developmental processes. Project poster was presented in Undergraduate Engineering Research Day (UnERD).

IBM

Back-end Software Developer, Master Data Management, 2016

I was part of the Engine scrum in Master Data Management from January 2016 to April 2017. My tasks consisted of the following:

  • Implementing new features of product in Java, investigating defects and customer inquiries.
  • Designing tests to verify functionality and scripts to automate testing process with Unix shell.
  • Implementing OSGi framework, and investigating defects through WebSphere Application Server.
  • Analyzing code features related to IBM WMQ and JMS messages.

Computer Science Department

Teaching Assistant, CSC165, 2018

In Fall 2018 and Winter 2019, I was a TA for CSC 165, an introduction class for Mathematical Expression and Reasoning for Computer Science. I was an in-class TA, where I helped students to understand the class material and work through their worksheets biweekly.

SickKids Research Institute / Vector Institute

Research Student, Goldenberg Lab, 2019

I joined Dr. Anna Goldenberg’s lab in Summer 2017 and continued to stay for my senior undergraduate thesis and Master degree. In Summer 2017, I worked on finding association of genes with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with predicted gene expression from genomic data (eQTL). I further applied this method to find predisposition genes to cancers. My current work focuses on application of machine learning in clinical health data. I’m currently working on building a diabetes risk predictor for liver transplant recipients under the supervision of Dr. Goldenberg and Dr. Mamatha Bhat.
